Crazy designers...

They must think we are the crazy ones.

Would you rather have the Louis Vuitton 'ghana must go' bag on the left for £850 ($1500) - being paraded at a catwalk show no less or a regular 'ghana must go' bag for £2.50 ($1.00)? Can you even tell the difference?

Where did the Louis Vuitton people see 'ghana must go' bag to copy sef! Na wah!

BluntRemi - our blogger fashionista - can you explain this please?

At risk of flouting copyright laws, here's the catwalk show, also available on the Louis Vuitton website

p.s. Any one who does not know why it is called 'ghana must go' should get in touch.

Well Fashion designers has always borrow from sub-culture or any other culture for that matter...the more contrasting the 'real' thing is from the other - the better way to show of status. The question is what is the real thing? I love these I call then 'Dalston' bags as they are so practical n would hate to put my yam, plantain and other goodies in my new LV bag...by the way why do you call it a 'Ghana must go' bag????

...i realise that in the creative industry, you have to look far and wide for inspiration, but this really looks like they have truly run out of creative juice... come on! do these bags really look good? As Kemi said, when we start seeing celebrities in the glossy magazines sporting these bags, that's when I know that woman can really be slaves to fashion....please free my people!

The term "Ghana Must Go" bag got it's name from a time in the 80's when
the Nigerian Government asked Ghanians to leave Nigeria and gave them a
very short time with which to do this. This type of bag was what most
of them packed all thier belongings into, I guess as it was cheap and
could take a lot of stuff in one go.

Sorry that I didnt hear your earlier call jare ...Now I know why my ears were ringing on the 1st of March!!!

Na so we see am o...now if we build up our name to be LV or Marc Jacobs, then ehen...we can sell charcoal for more than that!!
Its a good thing we know our options...no be our fault if people automatically think its LV...if its our good old lagos one!

We still have to wait and see what actually makes it into the store though...not everything from the runway does!

France, Italy, Spain - here we come!
